Tesla, Inc. selects Sentek Dynamics water-cooled shaker for mechanical vibration testing

Sentek Dynamics and Crystal Instruments successfully installed a massive shaker at Tesla, Inc. in Fremont, California, USA.  This is the first large scale system of its kind for mechanical vibration and shock testing, featuring a payload of over 4400 lbs and dimensions of 87 inches x 86 inches x 32 inches.

The system’s 200 kVA amplifier powers a massive E20064A water-cooled shaker with 44,000 lbf (192 kN) random, 44,000 lbf (192 kN) sine, and 88,000 lbf (392 kN) shock force. A 2500 mm x 2500 mm magnesium head expander featuring load support and guidance in addition to two interchangeable/split high-pressure 2500 mm/1200 mm slip tables allow users to vibration test a large variety of products.

The Sentek Dynamics High Pressure Slip Table is a high-load model. A single bearing has a capacity of static payload support up to 5000 kg. Sentek Dynamics slip tables utilize high pressure bearings and features a stand-alone hydraulic power supply designed for testing heavy payloads with a high center of gravity. The HST-Series provides the highest resistance to pitch, roll and yaw over-turning moments.

Crystal Instruments Spider-81 vibration control system successfully performs high measurement accuracy and control closed loop tests of the massive structure representing the vibration of various surfaces and operational environments relevant to electric sports cars. Extensive product qualification tests and environmental stress screentests are carried out to ensure the electric sports cars’ full assemblies and sub-assemblies survive different road conditions.
